Mac Manus has a particular interest in expressing the human condition and he finds that the human body is the most expressive tool to do so. This stems from his belief that the human body is designed to express or act as a vehicle for the soul or anima which animates it.

Portraiture, he has found concentrates on the most expressive aspects of the human body, the face and the hands so as to focus meaning and expression of the person sitting.
